Christmas Gathering 2025
The Hythe Local History Group decided not to hold a meeting this month(Dec) but instead to have a Christmas gathering at the White Hart Pub on Hythe High Street. This event took place on Wednesday, December 10th, at 7 PM. Alethea, being very organised, researched suitable pubs and concluded that the White Hart was the best choice, comfortable, and centrally located for everyone. HLHG Visit to Archaeological Dig Site, East Cliff, Folkestone
In 1924, Samuel Winbolt, a Classics teacher, spent the Summer supervising the excavation of an extensive Roman Villa site on the East Cliff, Folkestone, which he had discovered the previous year.
