Sally Chesters, organiser of Hythe in Bloom which operates under the auspices of Hythe Civic Society, was fortunate enough to be invited to represent Hythe at the event at Walmer Castle last Thursday 10th July when the King was present.
All 14 towns from the Cinque Ports Federation were there and each was represented by the Mayor, their consort, the Town Clerk and two members of the community who are recognised for their positive contribution to their town. Shirley Moberly and I were delighted to be asked.
It was a great occasion: the King shook hands and had a chat to everyone present before heading off to Deal for further engagements.
I don’t know if photographs of the Hythe contingent with the King will ever be available but here is a snap of the five of us in front of the Hythe banner, courtesy of Shirley Moberly.
