Success for Hythe Civic Society at the 2026 Folkestone & Hythe Excellence in Volunteering Awards

Hythe Civic Society is delighted to announce its success at the 2026 Folkestone & Hythe Excellence in Volunteering Awards, presented on Thursday 4 June at Harbour Church, Folkestone.

The awards celebrate the outstanding contribution made by volunteers across the district. Categories included Governance, Youth Volunteers, Volunteer Group, Corporate Volunteers, Individual Volunteer and Environmental. During the ceremony, the achievements of each shortlisted nominee were highlighted, providing an inspiring reminder of the dedication, commitment and positive impact volunteers have within their communities.

Hythe Civic Society was shortlisted in two categories – Volunteer Group and Environmental. Against strong competition, the Society was honoured to receive the Environmental Award in recognition of the work undertaken by its Hythe in Bloom volunteers.

The Hythe in Bloom team makes a significant contribution to the appearance and wellbeing of the town. Their activities include maintaining public gardens, planting and watering the High Street planters, providing the summer displays in Prospect Road, planting bulbs throughout the town, and assisting with the gardens at Sandling Station. Their efforts help ensure that Hythe remains a colourful, attractive and welcoming place for residents and visitors alike.

While the award focused on the achievements of Hythe in Bloom, the judges also recognised the wider contribution made by Hythe Civic Society through its many activities and projects that benefit the town.

The Society is acutely aware that every individual and organisation shortlisted was worthy of recognition. We are therefore especially proud to receive this award and grateful that the work of our volunteers has been acknowledged in this way.
