The talk is The Leas Lift by the Leas Lift team and gives an insight into the forthcoming renovations and the future of the lift, retaining it as a much-loved heritage asset that continues to inspire the local community.
It will also take a look back over the project and how they successfully fundraised over £6 million to bring the Grade II* Listed funicular railway back into service and put together a successful planning application. Opened in 1885, the Leas Lift is one of the last remaining water-balanced lifts in the country.
Doors open at 2pm for a 2.30pm start. Admission is £5. The venue is The Back Room at the Cornerstone Centre (South Kent Community Church), close to Folkestone Central station. The station is served by buses and has a car park.
