Under the auspices of Hythe Civic Society, Hythe in Bloom provides seasonal floral displays in Prospect Road and the High Street for the enjoyment of all.
In recent years, this work has expanded to include planting daffodil bulbs around the town to create a spirit-lifting spring display after the long winter months. This year is no exception. The photograph shows the Tuesday gardening group planting 1,200 bulbs in Prospect Road, ready for flowering in spring 2026. The group of ten completed the task in just 50 minutes—surely a record!
These bulbs were in addition to the 1,800 planted in Oaklands by the Girl Guides, Brownies and Rainbows, ably supported by volunteers from Hythe in Bloom.
Sally Chesters, organiser of Hythe in Bloom, said: “To come across swathes of yellow daffodils in public spaces in spring is a truly uplifting sight, and one that Hythe in Bloom loves to provide. We have plans for even more next year—in Dymchurch Road—and look forward to seeing those bloom in 2027!”
