Eaton Lands is now open to the public.
Eaton Lands has very much been one of the largest projects this year, amongst all the other smaller projects HTC have been working on.
HTC Councillors and officers have been working diligently with our contractors, ensuring we create a woodland for the future. One of the main improvements is the introduction of wide woodland rides, this create better access for future maintenance, improve biodiversity by providing additional habitat for birds and butterfly’s and creating safe and accessible routes.
Whilst most logs and brush have been removed you will see some have been left as standing and lain timber to provide habitat for many insects as they rot down. Cllr Stephen Bailey is producing a 10 year management plan to ensure that it is managed and enhanced appropriately for the subsequent years.
Please be vigilant when accessing the woodland as contractors are still working in designated areas and we respectfully request they are given the space they need to complete the final finishing touches.
The woodland is still understandably scarred however after another season and future council and community involvement will recover well and be a well managed asset for years to come.
